What is it?
MVHR works throughout your home by providing a continuous supply of fresh, filtered air to bedrooms and lounges, extracting stale air from bathrooms and kitchens, while keeping most of the heat energy from the extracted air within your home. This ensures that the inside air quality is maintained at all times. Your home will not feel stuffy and stale anymore.
MVHR is beneficial for all types of homes, it reduces your heating bill by recycling the heat energy from extracted air, while keeping you home fresh with good quality air. The MVHR filtering system blocks most dust, pollen and pollutants from the outside air before supplying it to your home. This reduces the effects of hay fever and asthma, and other respiratory related heath issues, stale stuffy air containing dust, odours, air born germs, humidity, condensation, pollutants etc is extracted from your home.
All buildings need a supply of fresh air, without this the building will become damp and stale, condensation forms and mould grows – not only damaging the house but this poor quality of air contains many pollutants and is damaging to your health.
Ventilation in many existing houses rely on tickle vents built into the windows to supply fresh air, with extractor fans to remove stale air. The disadvantage to this system is that it allow the warm stale air directly out and allows the fresh air containing all the pollen, dust and pollutants straight in, all the heat is lost which makes your home colder and harder to heat in winter.
With a MVHR system, tickle vents in windows are not required nor are noisy extractor fans.
